The New Orleans Saints are landlocked in a battle with the Chicago Bears in their Week 9 matchup. In the first half of the game, Saints head coach Dennis Allen made a major mistake.

On a Bears offensive drive, the Saints got a third down stop. They forced Tyson Bagent to throw the ball away, but there was a holding penalty on Chicago.

Instead of declining the penalty and bringing up a fourth down, Dennis Allen accepted the penalty to give the Bears another shot on third down. Of course, the Bears picked it up on a scramble by their quarterback. On the next play, the Bears scored an effortless touchdown.

On a drive that should have ended on a field goal attempt, Chicago got seven points on the scoreboard instead – due to a blunder by the Saints head coach.

Under-the-radar, simple mistakes like this one by Allen is why he is on the hot seat when it comes to many Saints fans. With a defense that was struggling in the first half, he decided to keep them out there instead of forcing the issue and making the Bears hit a field goal.

Cairo Santos, Chicago's kicker, missed a FG attempt later in the half, too.

We'll see if the decision comes back to haunt New Orleans against Chicago.
