The Minnesota Vikings have been hit hard by the injury bug of late. With Justin Jefferson still on injured reserve, Kirk Cousins out for the season, and Christian Darrisaw out today at Atlanta, the team saw several more players go down during the game.
Cam Akers, KJ Osborn, and rookie QB Jaren Hall all left the game and did not return. Hall and Osborn have concussions and should return eventually, but Akers' injury appears to be more serious.
Per reports, Akers is feared to have suffered a torn Achilles.
Akers left the game late in the third quarter and was carted to the locker room.
If it is indeed an Achilles injury, it will be the second one for Akers. The running back also tore his Achilles before the 2021 season got underway. However, Akers was actually able to return in the 2021 season and played in the Super Bowl for the Rams.
The Vikings traded with the Rams for Akers for a late-round pick swap back in September. The back will enter free agency after the season.
