Despite the terrible result against a playoff-caliber opponent, we can't forget that the Seattle Seahawks are 5-3 and still largely in control of their own destiny.
As easy as it is to spiral after a loss like this one, there are a few facts and pieces on this team that should provide hope for the rest of the season.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba's recent stretch should be one such reason of optimism.
JSN may have started the season slow, but now it feels like we are saying the same thing about him after every game; this guy is everything that was advertised.
Despite all the other faults in the offense and lackluster performances today, JSN was able to get the ball in his hands six times for 63 yards (both led the team).
It might be hard to appreciate something like this when it didn't translate to Seattle being able to do much to actually get closer to making the Ravens sweat, but it was good to see that the rookie was able to be consistent against a team like this while also being okay as the top option.
Seahawks fans knew it was only a matter of time. Few teams in the league have the bodies to keep up with the three receivers that Seattle has, not even the Ravens.
That is the best news in all of this; JSN's recent stretch of play shows no signs of slowing down (17 receptions for 210 yards in his last four games). This is because even if teams wanted to, they don't actually have the bodies to key in on JSN and leave one of the other stars on this offense uncovered.
This game will definitely serve as a punch in the mouth, but the pieces are slowly starting to come together, and it should be clear to anyone that this offense could emerge as one of the best in the NFL with a few minor shifts.
Seahawks get dominated in tough playoff test
This didn’t look good.
