If you want to argue that there is a more talented running back duo out there, the one thing you can't deny is that the Miami Dolphins have the most productive running back pair in the entire NFL when healthy.
Raheem Mostert and De'Von Achane have lit the NFL on fire this season with some extremely inspired running along one of the best schemes in football, and it looks like the Dolphins are going to get some more of that this week.
The hottest battle in Miami is set to resume as Mostert and Achane have a chance to take the field together again for the first time since early October.
The explosive run game in Miami has been one of the biggest surprises of this year. Everyone knew the offense was going to dominate through the air. The run was a bit of a different story.
Mostert is a quality back that had a good career as a journeyman and Achane had plenty to like in his college tape, but no one could've expected this duo to be as productive as they have been.
Mostert is one pace for the best single season of his career and has been one of the highest-producing backs in the league this season. His 11 touchdowns lead the league and it doesn't look like he is giving up that lead anytime soon.
As for the rookie, Achane has the 25th-most rushing yards with 460, five touchdowns, and has done all of this on just 38 rushing attempts. Achane's 12.1 yards per rush are simply astronomical, and the Dolphins missed having this threat on the field when he was out with injury.
These backs turned every rep into a chance to prove that they deserved to be the starter in the backfield, and the lack of a clear winner has actually worked in the Dolphins' favor.
This has been a battle where the only loser has been the other team. Mostert and Achane are both making the most of every rep, keep high levels of efficiency, and almost always threaten the big play.
That threat took a bit of a step back without Achane on the field, but with him potentially being back this week, it looks like we should see a return of the most potent offense in the NFL with the unstoppable pair in the backfield.
The Raiders aren't a huge threat and the Dolphins would probably like to use Achane sparingly to preserve his health in a matchup that should already end in a win, but it would be nice to see him break off a big run or two if only to prove he still has the gas in the tank for when it really matters.
Dolphins win in a major way without even having to play
The Dolphins found multiple ways to get better during their bye.
