The New Orleans Saints have added another quarterback to their roster.
After Derek Carr suffered a shoulder injury in Week 3, the Saints have been looking to add a bit of QB depth to the offense. They did that on Tuesday. The Saints are signing QB Jake Luton off of the Carolina Panthers' practice squad to their 53-man roster.
Luton has spent time with the Saints previously. He bounced around their practice squad and active roster multiple times over the last year. Luton most recently spent time with the the Panthers.
He was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
Luton's time spent with the team and coaches certainly could have played a role in his addition by the front office. Expect Luton to be a backup option for Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill while Carr is out.
