Tennessee Vols sophomore edge rusher James Pearce was included this week on On3's list of the top 25 edge rushers in the nation.

On3 listed Pearce just outside their top 10 at No. 11.

Senior edge rusher Tyler Baron fell out of their top 25 edge rusher rankings this week.

Pearce, who is a former four-star recruit, has flashed his elite pass rushing abilities early this season.

The Charlotte, NC native has seven tackles and three sacks through three games this season, already surpassing his total production from his true freshman season.

Pearce will need to continue to develop to stay on the field more often to have more opportunities — specifically he has to continue to get better against the run (he failed to set the edge a couple of times against Florida). But that will come as Pearce gains experience.

If the Vols are going to turn their season around, the defense will have to play significantly better than it did in the first half of the game against the Gators. Getting pressure on the quarterback is a big part of that equation, which is what makes Pearce so important to Tennessee's future success.
