Carolina Panthers starting offensive lineman Brady Christensen’s season ended before it got going. 

On Wednesday, the Panthers placed the third-year left guard on injured reserve due to a biceps injury.

The Thursday Christensen confirmed that his bicep injury required surgery, and in a heartfelt message on Instagram, he vowed that he would return sooner rather than later. 

"Just wanted to say thanks for everyone’s thoughts, prayers, and support!" Christensen wrote. "Had surgery this morning to fix a bicep tear. Not the way I imagined this season going but excited to get back at it and I’ll be back on the field in no time! Love this game! Love this city!"

Christensen played out the entire game with the injured bicep. He registered 77 offensive snaps in the 24-10 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

With Christensen done for the season, Panthers head coach Frank Reich said a committee of players — Cade Mays, Nash Jensen, and Justin McCray — will get an opportunity to start at Christensen's spot. 

Christensen is a 2021 third-round pick. He played in every one of Carolina’s 33 games over the past two seasons.
