Cleveland Browns took a big loss in the second quarter against the Pittsburgh Steelers that could have a big impact on their season.
Running back Nick Chubb is expected to miss the season with multiple torn ligaments in his knee, according to multiple sources. Kevin Stefanski called it a ‘very significant knee injury’ postgame.
Chubb was hit low by Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and his leg folded the wrong way and the rest was history. The injury occurred to the same knee that Chubb seriously injured in 2015 at Georgia. Back then, it was a multiple ligament tear for Chubb as well.
Cleveland drafted Chubb in 2018 and he has four Pro Bowl nods to his name in five seasons so far, now in his sixth. To go along with that, Chubb has four 1,000-yard seasons including a career-high 1,525 last season.
Cleveland currently has Jerome Ford as the starting running back with Chubb injured. The Browns very well could make a move for another running back, as Pierre Strong Jr. is the only other running back on the active roster.
It’s unfortunate news for Chubb, who now will face an uphill climb to ever step foot back on the field with the seriousness of the injuries he’s had to the same knee.
Now, it will be telling what the Browns think of Ford by how heavily they address the position. On the other hand, it’s a waiting game to see about Chubb’s future.
