Tragedy struck the Cleveland Browns during Monday Night Football this week.
When star RB Nick Chubb went down with a scary knee injury that will cause him to miss at least the rest of the 2023 season. Which could cause the Browns to call the Indianapolis Colts about star RB Jonathan Taylor.
A team source has shared that the Colts stance on trading Jonathan Taylor remains the same. They prefer to keep the RB and see him play out this season under his rookie contract but have listened to trade offers. And if a team were to offer a first-round pick or a 2nd and a young promising player at a position of need, they could pull the trigger on a deal.
With that in mind, what are some potential trade packages the Browns could offer to receive the All-Pro RB?
Browns Potential Trade Packages:
- WR Elijah Moore and a 2024 2nd-Round Pick:
Looking at the WRs the Colts have requested via trade so far; Jaylen Waddle and Christian Watson, Elijah Moore is my prediction on who they would ask for if the Browns called. The Browns traded to Moore this offseason, and I imagine they would be reluctant to include him in a trade for Jonathan Taylor, but it all comes down to how desperate they feel they need to make a move following Chubb's injury.
- CB Greg Newsome II and a 2024 2nd-Round Pick:
Here is another player I could see the Browns being reluctant to trade, but with the Colts need at CB, Greg Newsome II is a player to watch. The former-round pick is the starter opposite of star CB Denzel Ward. I honestly feel that the Colts would rather get a player like Newsome II than Moore above even. So, if the Browns prefer not to lose a WR, this may be the best route to get a deal done.
- WR Cedric Tillman and a 2024 2nd-Round Pick:
This package is more than likely the option the Browns would prefer. They drafted Cedric Tilman in the 3rd round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He currently finds himself as WR 5 on the team's depth chart. The speedy 6'3 WR out of Tennessee could be enticing to the Colts while he still hasn't shown any production at the NFL level. But I do feel this would be a deal the Colts would be compromising on their current asking price, which they have not shown any willingness to do so far.
