It's shaping up to be a (potentially) great weekend for the Tennessee Vols.
Tennessee is set to face the South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturday night in Neyland Stadium in what's been described this week as a "revenge" game for the Vols after their 25-point loss last November in Columbia.
On Wednesday, Tennessee learned that they'll have an important guest in attendance for the South Carolina game.
On3's Josh Newberg reported that 2024 five-star offensive tackle Jordan Seaton canceled his official visit to Oklahoma this weekend and will instead take an unofficial visit to Tennessee.
According to On3, Seaton also plans to take an official visit to Tennessee later this fall (On3 also detailed his other recent visits).
Seaton, 6-foot-5/287 lbs from Washington DC, is ranked in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 1 interior offensive lineman in the nation and the No. 36 overall player in the 2024 recruiting class.
Scouting report via 247Sports: High level athleticism combined with a nasty streak. Is physical and active with hands. Has forceful initial punch. Quick feet allows for impressive lateral movement. Has ability to sink hips and explode into defender. Brings ferocious attitude to line of scrimmage. Once engaged, drives his legs to push defender back. Is difficult to disengage from for high school players. Athleticism shines when asked to pull. Uses proper footwork and gets into gap quickly. Excellent body control and can target linebackers in space. Uses lower body strength well, including to correct within rep. Scrapes and gets to second level. Has athleticism to get out and lead on screens. Has nice kick step in pas pro. Strong with initial punch and accurate with hand placement. Is patient in base and rarely reaches. Moves well laterally to handle speed off edge. Shows ability to mirror. Sometimes will block beyond the whistle. Has to continue to remain focused and keep emotions in check during game. Should continue to refine technique. Adding upper body strength is important. Can play early at Top 20 program. Can be an early round NFL draft pick.
The recruiting battle for Seaton is going to be intense. Alabama, Colorado, and Ohio State, among several others, are in the mix to land the coveted five-star offensive lineman.
Tennessee, however, is clearly in this battle. And a win on Saturday night against South Carolina in front a rowdy night crowd in Neyland Stadium could give the Vols an edge in the battle for Seaton.
This weekend has the potential to be an exciting one for Tennessee. But there won't be any excitement unless the Vols get a win on Saturday night against the Gamecocks.
