The Miami Dolphins' electric offense has built its reputation on speed.  Between Tyreek Hill, De'Von Achane, and Raheem Mostert, the Dolphins have routinely produced the fastest runs of the season.

Until Thursday night, that is.

Seattle Seahawks WR DK Metcalf set the mark for the fastest run by a ballcarrier of 2023, surpassing the Dolphins' speedy triumvirate.  Metcalf took a pass from Geno Smith and raced for a 73-yard touchdown during Seattle's 41-35 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

It's kind of hard to believe a man as big as Metcalf can move that fast, but according to Next Gen Stats, Metcalf reached a blistering speed of 22.23 miles per hour.

Given the pride the Dolphins have taken in their speed, it seems unlikely that Hill, Mostert, and Achane won't do everything they can to try to retake the mantle of fastest player in the NFL.

Mostert certainly can do it.  He was with the San Francisco 49ers in 2020 when he reached 23.09 miles per hour on an 80-yard run on the first play of the game against the New York Jets. Achane has track speed and the third and fourth fastest speeds in the league this year.

But Hill is the one to watch.  The outspoken fireplug of the offense is only .22 miles per hour behind Metcalf now, so he doesn't have to do much to surpass the Seahawks star and re-stake his claim to the fastest speed.

With how competitive and proud Hill is, don't be surprised if the Dolphins' star looks to find a new gear on Sunday at FedEx Field against the Commanders.
