Three missed practices for Tee Higgins (hamstring) and Cam Taylor-Britt (quad) will cause each of them to miss Sunday's game between the Cincinnati Bengals and Pittsburgh Steelers.
Bengals head coach Zac Taylor declared both Higgins and Taylor-Britt out for Week 12's contest at Paycor Stadium, as well as sharing Germaine Pratt is dealing with an illness, but did bring positive news elsewhere.
Sam Hubbard, who's been out with an ankle injury for the past two weeks, is set to return to the field after participating in all three practices this week.
D'Ante Smith is the other injury to monitor as he did not practice Friday after being limited Thursday with a knee injury. That does not bode well for Smith to suit up on Sunday.
Higgins being inactive for the the third-straight game means more opportunities for Trenton Irwin and rookie Andrei Iosivas, the latter having missed a game-and-a-half as well over the past few weeks.
On defense, Hubbard brings the edge defender rotation back to the full strength, but no Taylor-Britt at cornerback sparks a new problem. Chidobe Awuzie, who's yet to play a full game this year as a starter, will have to step in and play the entire game, if not close to it.
The Bengals have been playing rookie DJ Turner II more than Awuzie this season, but the two will have to play together while CTB is out. Perhaps they'll call on another rookie in DJ Ivey to get some reps for Awuzie. Ivey had an impressive preseason as a seventh-round pick from this year's NFL Draft, but has only logged two defensive snaps this season.
We could see Turner take Taylor-Britt's spot, and Ivey take on Turner's role to rotate in and out with Awuzie.
We'll post the full injury report when it becomes available…
