The Philadelphia Eagles are moving on from former first-round pick Derek Barnett

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the veteran defensive end will be waived on Friday.

Schefter adds that he shouldn't have trouble finding a new home.

This move is the least bit surprising considering Barnett has recently missed a significant amount of time due to personal reasons and was a healthy scratch in Week 9.

Barnett was initially drafted 14th overall by the Eagles in 2017.

Due to such a competitive defensive line room, Barnett's production has decreased significantly over the last year. He has just three tackles through eight appearances this year.

He leaves Philly after recording 150 tackles, 21.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries for the Birds. He will add quality depth to a team in need of an extra defensive end as the NFL inches closer to playoffs.

With the Barnett move, the Eagles now have an open roster spot which could mean that they'll try and snag veteran linebacker Darius Shaquille Leonard, who cleared waivers on Wednesday.
