The Las Vegas Raiders broke several records on Thursday Night Football against the Los Angeles Chargers. It was truly something that was crazy to watch – mainly because I don't think anyone thought those two teams would even score more than 20 points each.
Yet, the Raiders scored 63 points, a franchise record. Last week was rough because they didn't score any points, and then this week, they had the craziest game ever. It shows how truly crazy a difference in a week can be in the NFL.
And for Antonio Pierce, who first coached the game of his life for his job in 2024, he had the perfect reaction after the game.
"We were all down, I'll be honest, I was down," Pierce explained after the win on Thursday. "I had to slap myself to get out of the funk. Hats off to them. We kicked some ass today."
Kicked some ass, and they did. The Raiders were flawless in the first half on both sides of the ball. They didn't allow a point in the first half, all while scoring 49, which is just kind of crazy. However, when you say the Raiders kicked ass, it is completely about the way they did things on Thursday.
Every hit was hard. Every hit nearly knocked a ball out. They were mean to the Chargers, talking their trash talk and letting the Chargers know they were the better team. Every play was a big play. It was truly an ass-kicking if you will.
The craziest part of it all is that four days ago, this same team, only with more starters available to play, lost 3-0 to the Minnesota Vikings, who also played their backup quarterback, and even his backup. So, yeah, considering all of the circumstances, I'd say the Raiders kicked ass, and that's the only way Pierce should react.
Antonio Pierce is already making Raiders’ history
