The Philadelphia Eagles have not been as effective on offense over the past two weeks, which has many wondering if players are either hurt or tired.

To no surprise, the Birds are exhausted.

Head coach Nick Sirianni was honest with reporters about that earlier in the week, though he said it's no excuse for poor execution.

"We have a good, deep group of guys that work their butts off," Sirianni said. "They work their butts off at practice. They work their butts off during the game. They’re always fighting every moment of the games and of practice. And so, everybody is tired at this point of the year. We’ll never use that as an excuse.

"It shows you the physical and mental toughness that you have to have to play in the NFL. It’s a long, long season on a very demanding sport on your body. We understand that everybody is tired at this point of the year."

The defense, especially, is worn out, and Sirianni admitted that he has to do a better job of coaching to limit their time on the field.

Over the last six weeks, the Eagles defense has played 462 snaps compared to the 433 total snaps they played during the first seven weeks of the season.

"Again, we know we played a lot of plays, especially defensively," Sirianni said. "That’s my job as a coach. And like I said to you last week, I didn’t feel like I did a good enough job as a coach having the guys rested enough.

"…So, no excuses. I’ll take full responsibility if our guys are tired or play tired. That’s full responsibility on me. Like I said, last week I feel like I could have done a better job. But, again, we just have to be ready for any situation that we’re put into."

The Eagles typically hold a walkthrough on Wednesdays to give players a break, but this week they kicked off preparation ahead of their Seattle Seahawks matchup with a normal practice. However, let's face it — tired or not, the Eagles need all of the extra practice that they can get right now.

The good news is that they have an extra day of rest on Sunday since they don't face Seattle until Monday night.
