The Philadelphia Eagles are expected to get a huge boost to their secondary as soon as Week 16.

Eagles starting nickel cornerback Avonte Maddox has been on the Injured Reserve with a pectoral injury since Week 2.

Maddox underwent surgery on his torn pec and was projected to miss the remainder of the season, but it looks like that won't be the case anymore.

According to ESPN's Tim McManus, the Eagles will open Maddox's 21-day practice window next week.

The news comes just after it was announced cornerback Darius Slay will miss time recovering from knee surgery

Although Maddox has not yet officially returned from the IR, he was spotted working out on the side field during practice this week.

Maddox's NFL career has been riddled with injuries, however, whenever he is healthy, he's a crucial part of the Eagles' secondary and has registered 31 career pass deflections as the team's top slot corner.

Before his injury, Maddox had logged eight tackles and a forced fumble through two games.
