Kansas City Chiefs WR Mecole Hardman recently had surgery to repair the thumb injury that landed him on injured reserve, and he clarified that his recovery timeline won't be an extended one.

Hardman took to the app formerly known as Twitter to report that he'd undergone a successful surgery on his thumb. The need for surgery explains his placement on IR after he was able to finish the Week 11 game against the Philadelphia Eagles during which he was injured.

The former second-round draft pick later returned to Twitter to explain that the surgery wouldn't keep him too long. With just six weeks to go before the postseason arrives, Hardman says that he'll be back during the regular season.

Hardman must miss a minimum of four weeks before the Chiefs can designate him to return from injured reserve. He already missed the Week 12 game against the Las Vegas Raiders as a result of his placement on injured reserve. He'll be eligible to return for Kansas City's final matchup against Las Vegas this season in Week 16.

Since returning to the Chiefs via trade, Hardman has appeared in four games. He's caught eight passes for 41 yards on 10 targets. He also has seven punt returns for 61 yards and one kick return for 14 yards on the season.
