The Dallas Cowboys met with veteran linebacker Darius Shaquille Leonard on Tuesday and while reports say that the meeting was successful, they couldn't get a deal done.

For now, Leonard's plan is to weigh his options and visit other teams.

According to NBC Sports' John Clark, the All-Pro linebacker will meet with the Philadelphia Eagles on Wednesday.

And it looks like the Eagles are getting ahead of the game and planning to sign him as they created a roster spot on Tuesday afternoon.

The Eagles waived defensive back Josiah Scott opening a roster spot, NBC Sports' Dave Zangaro reports.

Of course, it could also just be a coincidence, but the move was announced following the reposts that Leonard would be visiting Philly.

On Monday, head coach Nick Sirianni couldn't directly address the early rumors surrounding Leonard visiting Philly, but he was able to talk about his memories from his three seasons spent with Leonard at the Indianapolis Colts.

"He [LB Shaq Leonard] made a lot of plays, that’s for sure," Sirianni said during his press conference. "He had a knack for the football and how to get the football. What I remember is just how, as an offensive coordinator, how hard he was to throw around. His length was comparable to Jim Boeheim’s 2-3 zone at Syracuse. He’s going to make a play in the passing lane.

"He was a great teammate and I really enjoyed being around him. I still have a relationship with him. I think he is a great person, great teammate, and like I said, the main thing was the ball and the length that come to mind with that."

The Eagles could use the extra depth at linebacker with Zach Cunningham dealing with a hamstring injury.

We'll see what happens tomorrow, but the 10-1 Eagles are definitely the more appealing team over the Cowboys… for obvious reasons.
