The Cleveland Browns proved several things in their critical Week 14 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

But more than anything, they added to their total victories over teams with a .500 record.

Cleveland is now in the upper echelon of the NFL, joining teams like the Baltimore Ravens, San Francisco 49ers, and Philadelphia Eagles for the best record against winning teams.

Here is a look at the full standings:

  • 5-2… Eagles[.714]
  • 6-3… Browns [.667]
  • 5-3… Ravens [.625]
  • 4-3… 49ers [.571]
  • 4-3… Texans [.571]
  • 4-3… Broncos [.571]
  • 5-5… Jaguars [.500]
  • 4-4… Chiefs [.500]
  • 4-4… Jets [.500]

What makes the Browns' record against winning teams more impressive is that Cleveland is achieving success with musical chairs at quarterback.

Against the Jaguars, though Flacco took the majority of the snaps, the Browns won that game using a total of four quarterbacks.

In previous weeks, P.J. Walker and rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson have started under center.

Now, the Browns have some stability with Flacco, who is 1-1 in his two starts.

It also bodes well for the Browns, who are looking to make a playoff push. Recent playoff projections show that it would take a massive collapse for Cleveland to miss out on the postseason. But nothing is a guarantee in the NFL.

Still, when it comes to beating .500 opponents, the Browns handle them well. If Cleveland gets into the playoffs, even with a backup journeyman quarterback, the team may be able to pick off some of the other championship-contending opponents.

In the NFL, the quality of wins matters. And the Browns have already picked up several.
