The San Francisco 49ers' interior defensive line endured struggles against the Arizona Cardinals with both Arik Armstead and Javon Hargrave out of the lineup, and the chances of them being missing for a massive Christmas Day clash with the Baltimore Ravens appear to be increasing.
Armstead has been out for the last two games with foot and knee injuries while Hargrave missed the NFC West-clinching win over the Cardinals with a hamstring injury.
With each of their starting defensive tackles on the sideline, the 49ers gave up 234 yards on the ground, an ominous sign ahead of a matchup with a dynamic Ravens running game that leads the NFL with 62 runs of 10 yards or more.
And the 49ers may have to develop a plan as to how to contain that rushing attack without Hargrave and Armstead after Kyle Shanahan revealed neither would practice on Thursday.
San Francisco started Javon Kinlaw and Kevin Givens at defensive tackle against Arizona, with Kalia Davis and T.Y. McGill also playing significant snaps, the latter having been promoted from the practice squad.
However, Davis was placed on injured reserve on Wednesday in a further blow to the Niners' defensive line depth.
San Francisco made a move to address that depth on Thursday, signing defensive tackle Taylor Stallworth to the practice squad.

They need to add some depth.
