Raiders CB Jack Jones gives Chiefs players bulletin board material for Week 16

Some believe that bulletin board material or having a chip on your shoulder is a myth in the NFL.

When players, coaches, or others speak on something they have no business speaking on, it has often led to an inspired performance for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Just ask the mayor of Cincinnati.

It's not a smart idea to give an opponent anything extra to use against you ahead of a matchup, but Las Vegas Raiders CB Jack Jones didn't get the memo. Jones was asked about Patrick Mahomes' weapons and the notion that they're not as good in 2023 as they were in years past. His response was in line with that train of thinking.

"We not worried about them," Jones told reporters. "It’s Patrick Mahomes we got to stop. The magician. You stop the magician, and the act is over."

The part about Mahomes is certainly amusing, but as much of a magician as Mahomes is, there are still 10 other players on the field with him at a given time. Jones just gave every offensive player in Kansas City a little more reason to get up and perform in this game. They already have every reason to want to win it with a chance to lock up the AFC West division on Monday, but now there is something to prove for the Chiefs' skill players.

Jones made it personal for Travis Kelce, Rashee Rice, Isiah Pacheco — because he's not worried about any of them.

Maybe he should be, though.

Back in Week 12, Jones played 26 coverage snaps against Kansas City according to PFF. He was targeted twice and surrendered two receptions for 19 yards on the day. One reception allowed the Chiefs to convert on third down. The other helped set up a scoring play to Rice. This game was also Jones' highest yards-per-reception average in Las Vegas. This doesn't even get into the plays where he was tasked with bracketing Kelce.
