The New York Giants currently hold the sixth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, there will be an array of talent but, who will they pick? The Giants need an answer at quarterback, offensive guards, and receivers, while their defense needs some defensive line depth.
With this being said, the Giants will need work in free agency, and they can not re-sign everyone including: CB Adoree Jackson, HB Saquon Barkley, and QB Tyrod Taylor. At first glance, it seems like the Giants have a high enough pick to grab a franchise-changer, but that may not be the case.
The Giants' biggest need, besides an answer at quarterback, is weapons on offense with a strong offensive line. The Giants could trade down in the draft and get more picks and then draft a late first round offensive lineman then a wide receiver to build this position group up to success.
In my opinion, this is what I believe the Giants should with their first round pick in the 2024 draft. Get a quarterback with that sixth overall pick. Just do it, make this franchise fun. The Giant are currently 5-9, and are in a confused state of mediocracy. Not winning, not fun – not Giants football.
One name to watch out for is Jayden Daniels. Tommy DeVito has been great as a third string quarterback for the Giants, and his play style is extremely exciting. There is a reason it is exciting. DeVito has a pocket presence, great escapability, and he is willing to take risks. Unlike Daniel Jones, but how long can this success of DeVito last, he is obviously not a crazy skilled quarterback.
That is where head coach Brian Daboll comes in. He can mold a quarterback into a star. Look at what he did to Josh Allen when he was with him, or how he is winning games with DeVito and Tyrod Taylor. Daboll needs someone he can form into his own invention.
Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels, he would be amazing with Daboll at coach. The Giants will need to trade Jones, draft a wide receiver, and sign some offensive linemen. Daboll, Daniels, and a young receiver could be the next Reid, Mahomes, Hill.
