The Minnesota Vikings have been all over the place this season. There were amazing highs like beating the 49ers at home in Week 7 and then there were big lows like losing Kirk Cousins for the season or losing maybe the ugliest Monday Night Football game ever.

While the Vikings loss on New Years Eve stings and it makes thing so much harder, there is still a pathway into the playoffs for this team. They are not dead yet. The path in is actually not as hard as it might seem. Here is what needs to happen in Week 18 for the Vikings to get in:

Beat the Lions: To start they have to beat the NFC North champions at home coming off a game that should surely make everyone on that team super happy. The Lions also just beat the Vikings in Week 16. That game was close though. So it's possible.

Bears beat Packers: I know everyone lies to laugh at the Bear sand all, but this game is gigantic. This rivalry is a big one and the Bears would liek nothing more than to shut Packers fans up at Lambeau and kill their playoff dreams. This Bears team can do it too. They've won five out of their last seven games and they've looked good doing it. This is their Super Bowl.

Cardinals beat Seahawks: This one suddenly doesn't seem so scary. The Cardinals just beat the Eagles in their own building and that team is pretty good. The Seahawks have been trending downward for a while now. They also beat that Eagles team, but they've lost five of their last seven games and the Cardinals would probably love to stick the fork in their divsion rivals hearts and end their season.

Falcons beat Saints: This is the concerning one. The Saints still have a shot at not only making the playoffs, but winning the divsion. You have to believe they're going to be giving it all they got in this one. The Falcons are out, but again, this is a divsion game and they have a chance to knock their rivals out of it and cost them the divsion title. Even if the Bucs beat the Panthers on Sunday, the Saints can still get in over the Vikings.

So, if all this stuff happens, here's what final playoff field will look like:

  1. 49ers
  2. Cowboys
  3. Lions
  4. Buccaneers
  5. Eagles
  6. Rams
  7. Vikings

The Vikings would head to Dallas to play the Cowboys. We'll see if this all goes down. Have fun this weekend.

Vikings’ plan immediately blew up in their face

One could say the Minnesota Vikings lost to the Green Bay Packers the moment they handed the keys to rookie Jaren Hall earlier in the week. The move made sense, overall. Nick Mullens' propensity to simply hand the ball to the other team was a margin of error the Vikings simply couldn't afford at this […]
