The Cincinnati Bengals made a splash nearly two years ago in signing right tackle La'el Collins. Now he's back in the league with his original team.

Per NFL Media's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, Collins is signing with the Dallas Cowboys' practice squad.

Collins spent the first seven years of his career in Dallas before getting cut in March of 2022. The Bengals ended up signing him to a three-year, $21 million contract four days later.

Collins became the Bengals' new right tackle for the 2022 season, but a torn ACL and MCL suffered in Week 16 ended his year and ultimately his time in Cincinnati. Collins spent the entire offseason recovering from his injury only to be released by the team following the regular season opener.

The idea of Collins returning to the Bengals' active roster following his recovery was heavily speculated for months leading up to the season. The Bengals opted to move on and save cash by terminating his contract.

Based on the fact that Collins waited months to sign with a new team, his recovery may've taken longer than expected.

The Bengals are out of the playoff race and have no need for additional tackle depth with one week to play. The Cowboys have already clinched a playoff spot and are in line to win the NFC East with a victory on Sunday. We'll see if they end up playing their once starting offensive lineman.
