One of the Tennessee Vols' biggest recruiting additions during the 2024 cycle was easily five-star edge rusher Jordan Ross.
Ross, 6-foot-5/233 lbs from Birmingham, AL, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 1 edge rusher in the nation and the No. 11 overall player in the 2024 recruiting class.
The Alabama native told 247Sports this week that a year ago he was "probably a Georgia lean".
Ross, however, decided that Georgia wouldn't be a good fit after meeting with the Bulldogs coaches.
“I liked them (Georgia) a lot but after my mom and I met with the coaches, we didn’t think it was a good a fit," said Ross to 247Sports.
Proximity to Tennessee and his relationship with the Vols' coaching staff is what led to the talented edge rusher's decision to sign with UT.
“I was close with the whole staff and especially coach (Levorn) Harbin,” said Ross. “He hit me up all the time and we developed a great relationship…He’s a family guy and made me feel really comfortable. Coach (Josh) Heupel was involved as well and every time I visited Tennessee, it felt like home for me.”
Ross, who won't be on campus until late May, competed in the Under Armour All-America Game this week in Orlando. The future Vol had a strip-sack fumble in the game.
