The Dallas Cowboys play the Washington Commanders in Week 18 of the 2023 NFL season with a chance to clinch the NFC East and the second seed in the conference, which in turn means home-field advantage for at least the first two rounds of the playoffs.

Ahead of this game, the Cowboys dealt with several injuries, with seven players questionable in the final injury report.

Moments ahead of the game, the Cowboys announced their inactive players for the final game before the postseason.

Cowboys inactives vs. Commanders

  1. LG Tyler Smith
  2. RG Zack Martin
  3. S Sheldrick Redwine
  4. DE Viliami Fehoko Jr.
  5. CB Eric Scott Jr.
  6. CB Noah Igbinoghene
  7. QB Trey Lance (emergency quarterback)

Observations

  • Zack Martin was a surprising part of the above inactives as he was a gameday addition to the injury report with an illness that's been circling the team. The Cowboys will be without their two starting guards.
  • Tyler Smith will have to wait another week as he deals with a torn plantar fascia. Mike McCarthy said on Friday he couldn't count No. 73 out but it will be UDFA rookie T.J. Bass going up against the Commanders defensive line.
  • Johnathan Hankins is set to make his return after missing three consecutive games due to an ankle injury. The nose tackle is one of the top run defenders on the team and his return is a huge boost to a defense that misses his gap-eating 320 pounds in the middle of the defense.
  • After being activated to the 53-man roster this very week in place of Deuce Vaughn (now on Injured Reserve), rookie DE Fehoko Jr. will not be making his debut as he's a healthy scratch on this one.
  • Despite dealing with an illness, right guard Zack Martin is going to play.
