Kansas City Chiefs DT Chris Jones got a nice payday in Week 18.

While the majority of his teammates sat out of the contest against the Los Angeles Chargers, Jones played in the game because he had a lot of money on the line. The veteran defensive tackle had one of the biggest incentives on the line of any NFL player during Week 18. He entered the game with 9.5 sacks on the season, and part of his reworked contract included an incentive that paid him $1.25 million for 10 sacks during the regular season.

Jones eventually got a whole sack, bringing him to 10.5 on the season, but it didn't exactly come easy. Chargers QB Easton Stick made Jones work for it, but he probably shouldn't have. According to NFL Next Gen Stats, Chris Jones generated 10 pressures on 25 pass rushes in the first half, which tied his high for the most pressures in a single game since 2018.

He was relentless in his pursuit of the sack, but It took Jones until the final five minutes of the third quarter to get it.

Frankly, the Chargers probably should have let him get the sack earlier to make life easier on their backup quarterback. The funny part is that Jones recorded his 12th pressure on the incentive-triggering sack, which tied the total for the most pressures in a game by any pass rusher this season.

The expectation is that Andy Reid will now pull Jones for the remainder of the game and give him some rest ahead of their pending postseason matchup next weekend. Judging by the reaction of his teammates, this incentive meant a lot to Jones and everyone else on the team.
