Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts addresses the media following Week 18 loss to the New York Giants

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts was one of a handful of casualties to exit Sunday's 27-10 loss to the New York Giants early.

Hurts dislocated the middle finger of his throwing hand after colliding with Giants linebacker Bobby Okereke.

He went to the medical tent to get it taped up and briefly returned to action before head coach Nick Sirianni pulled him out just before the half and replaced him with Marcus Mariota for the remainder of the game.

The Eagles, who are already dealing with injuries to both of their top receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, can't afford to lose Hurts right now.

“I’m taking it day by day at this point,” Hurts said post-game. “It’s a very unfortunate crazy thing. I never experienced anything like that.”

The Eagles don't face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers until next Monday night in the first round of the playoffs, which gives them a much-needed extra day to rest.

But will that be enough?

“I don’t like to talk about injuries,” Hurts said. “I just want to let time play out itself. In the end, I think as a team we have everything in front of us. We have the opportunities in front of us and it’s about seizing that moment.

"Nothing else really matters, not anything in the past, not any record or past wins or losses. It’s all 0-0 now. The objective is to win.”

Hurts missed one practice all season with an illness, though he has yet to miss a game.
