The Philadelphia Eagles started the 2023 season 10-1 and ended it with an overall 11-6 record, losing five of their last six games.
No team in NFL history has ever collapsed like that.
The historic downfall has many questioning whether head coach Nick Sirianni deserves another year in Philly, even after three straight playoff runs and a Super Bowl appearance, or should the team move on from him.
According to ESPN analyst and 'UnSportsmanLike' radio host, Evan Cohen, the Eagles shouldn't waste any more time if Bill Belichick becomes available as a potential head coach replacement.
"They started 5-0," Cohen said Monday morning. "They then started 10-1. They're 1-5 in their last 6. This is a free fall. If you're a team that thinks your coach is one year away from potentially being fired. You have to consider it now if you think you have a shot at Belichick. You just have to.
"This is an all-time collapse here. "
The latest NFL rumors are saying that the New England Patriots could part ways with Belichick this offseason after 24 seasons with him as their head coach. If that happens, then he'll be the hottest candidate for every head coach vacancy.
Belichick is as decorated as it gets when it comes to being an NFL head coach. He's led the Pats to 18 playoff appearances, 17 divisional titles and has won an impressive six of nine Super Bowl appearances.
Cohen isn't wrong in saying that the Eagles should at least pick up the phone and give Belichick a call — which is something that general manager Howie Roseman loves to do — especially if the Eagles can't beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night in the Wild Card round of the NFL Playoffs.
