A Kentucky media personality attempted to throw some shade at Tennessee Vols quarterback Joe Milton on Wednesday, but it completely (and hilariously) backfired.

Kentucky Sports Radio's Nick Roush took to Twitter to suggest that Milton opted out of the Citrus Bowl because he was scared to face Iowa's tough defense.

Tennessee Vols

That's obviously an asinine statement about a quarterback who started games this past season against Alabama, Georgia, Texas A&M, and Kentucky.

And speaking of Kentucky, Milton completed 17-of-20 passes for 227 yards and a touchdown in the Vols' road win against the Wildcats this past season.

What makes Roush look even more foolish is that his remark comes a year after former Kentucky quarterback Will Levis opted out of the Wildcats' bowl game against….Iowa!

(You truly can't make this stuff up.)

The only reason that Milton is opting out of the bowl game is so he doesn't get injured, which would prevent him from participating in the draft combine and his pro day later this winter.

Milton's draft stock, good or bad, likely wasn't going to be impacted by playing against Iowa. He had nothing to gain and plenty to lose. It was a smart decision for a player that hopes to excel at the next level.

Roush, meanwhile, should probably think about recent history before firing off his next hot take.
