The Oct. 31 NFL trade deadline is just a few days away and you can expect a move to be made by the Philadelphia Eagles.
According to The Athletic's Dianna Russini, Eagles' general manager Howie Roseman has been inquiring around the league for an available safety:
"Eagles general manager Howie Roseman always has some magic up his sleeve, and he's been working the phone. The Eagles are apparently staying put on running back Rashaad Penny, knowing depth will be necessary for a team that should be making a long postseason run. Philly is looking to make some additions on defense after they suffered a handful of injuries in the defensive backfield, specifically targeting a safety."
Injuries have not been kind to the Eagles' secondary this season, so looking at adding some help in that area only makes sense.
Safety Justin Evans is on injured reserve due to a knee injury, while safety Reed Blankenship has been sidelined with a rib injury. As for injuries to cornerbacks, Avonte Maddox is on injured reserve with a torn pectoral and Bradley Roby is dealing with a shoulder injury.
The Eagles had previously been linked to Pro Bowl safety Budda Baker, who allegedly wanted to be traded to a contender ahead of the 2023 season. However, we learned last month that the possibility of the Arizona Cardinals parting ways with one of their best defenders is "off the table."
But with the Cards heading into Week 8 with one–maybe two if they can beat the Seattle Seahawks–win(s) under their belt, the tables may turn again.
