The Buffalo Bills suffered a devastating loss to the New England Patriots. The offense, defense, and special teams all struggled throughout the contest until late in the game when Josh Allen was able to resurrect the offense with a pretty touchdown to Stefon Diggs.
Unfortunately, the Patriots drove down the field for a game-winning score, ending the Bills' slim chances of pulling off a last-second victory. With the loss, the team has now played three atrocious games on both sides of the football and fans are more than displeased. I previously wrote about a controversial no-call that could've been the difference-maker in the contest.
Speaking to the media after the game, McDermott opened up on the loss and what happened to the team, giving the fanbase an intimate look inside the mind of the Bills head coach. Fans deserve much more than what they've been seeing on the football field, and it appears that McDermott understands that.
McDermott's portion of the press conference can be found at the 39:46 minute mark of the video below.
Talking about the inconsistencies the team has faced over the past few weeks, McDermott provided the following, "It's not enough, we didn't do enough…at the end of the day, not good enough… We gotta figure that out." Continuing on, "I think it starts with staying on schedule. Winning first downs.. so you can move the chains."
Speaking on if calling the defense hasn't allowed him to help on the offensive side of the football, McDermott added, "I oversee all three phases, we have communication across all three phases." He continued, "Collectively, we need to continue to find answers"
On what the team needs to do to earn the right to win, the Bills head coach was candid, "It starts with getting off the field on defense on third down. It starts with playing better complimentary football. Winning first down on offense, that's how you win in this league."
Finally, when talking about Ken Dorsey and his future with the team, something the Bills Mafia have been discussing for weeks about his potential departure, McDermott didn't hold back, "Yeah, I'm confident, confident in Ken."
He didn't seem too thrilled when discussing Dorsey and his future with the team, leaving that as his only response before moving on to another question. Even though he said he was confident, looking at his body language would prove otherwise.
The team needs to find a way to correct some of these big issues.
Bills’ suffer devastating loss thanks in part to controversial no-call
The Buffalo Bills didn’t deserve to win. However, the referees gift-wrapped a victory to the New England Patriots late in the contest.
