Devasting news broke Tuesday that will impact the Indianapolis Colts on and off the field.
Joel Erickson of The Indy Star was the first to report that the NFL has suspended Colts DT Grover Stewart for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs.
This report was updated by Kevin Bowen of 1075 The Fan shortly after, with the length of Stewart's suspension being six games. Stewart has already released a statement on the suspension. While he made no excuses, he claims he did not intentionally violate the league's PED policy.
Stewart is the anchor to the Colts run game, so this is a massive blow to their defensive front. But he also is a locker room leader and fan favorite whose absence will be noticeable on and off the field for the next six weeks.
Games Stewart is set to miss:
- Week 7: Vs. Cleveland Browns
- Week 8: Vs. New Orleans Saints
- Week 9: @ Carolina Panthers
- Week 10: @ New England Patriots (Germany)
- Week 11: Bye Week
- Week 12: Vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- Week 13: @ Tennessee Titans
Stewart is eligible to return on Monday, December 4th, after Week 13 is completed.
