As the middle of the season is nearing, trade rumors start to get hot and names start to get thrown around. Especially for New York Giants star running back Saquon Barkley.
Barkley has suffered injuries for the last couple of seasons and has not been the same since his rookie season, but the Giants need him more than he needs them. There are multiple teams that could take this top-six running back and turn him into a competitor with Christian McCaffery. This would be an absolute killer to the Giants organization and their fanbase.
In addition, Barkley will be the Giant's No. 1 offensive target for the next 2-3 years, why would you get rid of him? The Giants would not get an equivalent return on investment from their former second overall pick. Keep this man, give him some money, let his confidence soar, and become the best player he can.
Look, this is the hard truth about Saquon Barkley: He has been through the thick of it his whole career and has practically gotten nothing from it. There are about 15 teams in this league that would have made Barkley the greatest running back of all time. His talent, execution, vision, speed, and everything about Bakrley are spectacular.
The Giants have practically ruined his career, already.
Barkley has come out in recent interviews and explained he does not want to play for any other team or be traded. Giants, give the player what he wants – to retire a Giant. You owe him that much after giving him nothing to succeed with.
In addition, the team that would receive Saquon Barkley would dominate the whole NFL, if it is a relatively decent team. It would down in history as a wasted draft pick, a waste of money, and a waste of love from the Giants fanbase.
If the Giant decides to trade him because they do not want to pay him, yet, they paid Kenny Golladay 72 Million dollars for one touchdown, there is going to be some problems.
To the Giants foundation, make the right decision, let Barkley retire a Giant, and let the offense have a chance with him.
