The Indianapolis Colts knew they'd have to make adjustments to their offense after learning that they had lost Anthony Richardson for a significant amount of time.

In the first week since Richardson's injury, the offense certainly missed Richardson, but one element is still pretty puzzling to me.

Just a week removed from a dominant rushing performance in Week 5, the Colts abandoned their run game. The Colts rushed for 193 yards on 34 attempts in Week 5. This week they only rushed for 44 yards on 17 attempts. Once they went down big, they had no choice but to rely on their struggling passing game, but even early on in this one, the Colts seemed to have no plan for their running game being the focal point.

Minshew ended the day with three interceptions after attempting 55 passes on the day. Going forward, the Colts must utilize their run game by getting both Jonathan Taylor and Zach Moss involved early. At the end of the day, the Colts elected to pay Jonathan Taylor, and they need to trust him to lead this offense while Richardson is away. This takes pressure off Minshew, who has been catapulted into the starting lineup after the injury to Richardson. Steichen and the rest of the offensive staff need to watch the tape from this game over and make sure to improve their game plan going forward if they want to get the most out of Minshew and this offense.
