One of the biggest storylines coming out of the contest between the Buffalo Bills and New York Giants was a controversial no-call late in the game. Taron Johnson grabbed a little bit of jersey on Darren Waller as the ball sailed out of bounds, giving Buffalo the victory.
However, days removed from the contest, a video has surfaced that's taking the internet by storm. It appears that there could be some bad blood between Bills head coach Sean McDermott and former offensive coordinator, now head coach of the New York Giants Brian Daboll.
McDermott could be seen walking into frame, giving the quickest of handshakes, and peacing out. While this isn't out of the ordinary across the NFL, it's a bizarre set of circumstances that can't go without mention.
The Bills head coach normally spends a little bit of time with the opposing coach, giving a few words of encouragement before heading out. What makes this so strange is that the two have history, and were perceived to be close. I don't know about you but that exchange didn't scream friendship to us.
Now, the contest was heated as the two teams really didn't seem to like one another so much. In fact, during the contest, there was a pretty intense skirmish that broke out in which Josh Allen leaped into action and put his body on the line for his teammates.
Perhaps the tension between the two teams during battle rubbed McDermott the wrong way and he wanted to get out of there, perhaps the Bills head coach was frustrated they played down to their competition and just wanted to leave immediately, or there very well could be friction between the two.
What's more, immediately following the strange handshake, Daboll went up to Allen for a nice embrace and the two were chatting for a short while, adding more mystery to this whole situation.
Could there be bad blood? Is the pain of 13 seconds still wearing on McDermott's heart (even though the defense ultimately faltered in that contest)? Was Daboll attempting to sneak in for a head coaching position? Was McDermott just a little extra sleepy and wanting to get out of there?
Look, we won't have answers to this, but it's just so far out of the norm for McDermott, especially with someone he had worked so closely with for years. It's just hard not to immediately run to the idea that there could be some bad blood there.
Much like pretty much any other time there was even a semblance of a mystery at One Bills Drive, we won't hear much more about this, especially not from McDermott or the front office.
Bills’ Josh Allen considered day-to-day
The Buffalo Bills are having a serious injury problem right now. It appears the initial reports on Josh Allen might not have been totally correct.
