The Buffalo Bills were hit with a devastating injury bug in recent weeks. From Matt Milano and his scary injury to DaQuan Jones requiring surgery on his pec, to even the week before with Tre White suffering an Achilles injury and will be missing the rest of the season.
Put plainly, the team needs some good news. Fortunately for the Bills Mafia that's exactly what they got with the latest injury update from the team. With Kaiir Elam not hitting the mark and needing to be pulled from the contest, the team is getting some reinforcements.
Christian Benford was inactive for the contest against the Jacksonville Jaguars and his presence was undoubtedly missed. While he isn't Tre'Davious White, he's played substantial time in Sean McDermott's defense and has been a bright spot at times.
The secondary needs all the help they can get with White's absence and the uncertainty surrounding the abilities of Elam and Ja'Marcus Ingram. Benford was a full participant in practice, meaning all signs are pointing to him being available for the upcoming contest against the New York Giants.
The team might've gotten even better news from the Giants organization, paired with the return of Benford. Head coach Brian Daboll, and former offensive coordinator for the Bills, will have a tough task ahead of him as it's been rumored that Daniel Jones will not be able to participate in the contest.
While the team is reeling from injuries to Milano, Jones, and White, McDermott has deployed a next-man-up type mentality since arriving in Buffalo and it's paid off in a big way.
With Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer in the secondary, and the return of Benford to the lineup, the team is getting some much-needed reinforcements on a unit that's been decimated by injuries.
Fingers crossed he continues on this trajectory and is a full-go on Sunday Night Football.
