The Minnesota Vikings are bringing in a familiar face to the practice squad.

If you're familiar with Minnesota Golden Gopher football, you definitely know Tanner Morgan. Morgan starred for the Gophers from 2018-2022 and ended his college career second in all-time passing yards and passing touchdowns in school history.

Now, the Minnesota star will return to the Twin Cities as a member of the Vikings' practice squad.

After his final college season, Morgan was drafted with the eighth-overall pick in the 2023 USFL Draft by the Michigan Panthers, but opted not to sign and instead decided to pursue an NFL opportunity.

Morgan went undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft and quickly latched on with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The QB was unable to secure a spot, however, and was waived during the final cutdown.

The Vikings did not have a QB on the practice squad prior to Morgan's signing. Third-string QB and fellow rookie Jaren Hall has been the emergency QB for the team thus far.

Morgan is likely being brought in to give the Vikings some different looks in practice. Considering the QB put up massive numbers just down the road, it makes sense to give him a shot on the practice squad.
