The Jacksonville Jaguars cannot seem to escape the unfortunate injury bug. This time it's during training camp rather than during a game. With training camp nearing it's end, it was only a matter of time before someone got injured, you just hope it doesn't happen, and you hope it's not a serious one.
This week, it was defensive lineman De'Shaan Dixon, who tore his ACL.
With that very unfortunate injury, the Jaguars have officially waived/injured De'Shaan Dixon. If he goes unclaimed on waivers, Dixon will go to the Jaguars IR, or injured reserved list.
With that injury, the Jaguars are making a corresponding move. According to the team in a press release, they are signing UFL defender and former 2018 second-round pick by the Kansas City Chiefs, Breeland Speaks, who was an elite defensive lineman for the Michigan Panthers in the UFL. He led the UFL in tackles for loss with 13 and sacks with 9.5.
Speaks never quite lived up to the hype, but the Jaguars feel that he could be a nice piece for them in terms of depth and even a practice squad player.
Jacksonville Jaguars’ newest free agent signing will take a starting job away from a recent draft pick
That’s how it goes in the NFL.
