The offensive line continues to be a topic of discussion for the Carolina Panthers.
On Friday, the Panthers added depth at the guard position, bringing in Ike Boettger.
To make room for Boettger, the team waived rookie linebacker Jackson Mitchell.
Boettger, 29, broke into the league with the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted rookie free agent. He played his college ball at Iowa.
Boettger has also spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs and Indianapolis Colts. He also spent a few moments with the Detroit Lions training camp until he was cut earlier in the week.
In his career, he has appeared in 36 games, with 17 starts.
Adding to the offensive line was a clear need for the Panthers. Heading into Saturday's matchup with the New York Jets, Carolina had seven other healthy, non-starting offensive linemen.
Already this week, the Panthers have claimed Mason Brooks off waivers Thursday. It is unclear if Dave Canales will play the starters against the Jets on Saturday.
