In today's practice, where Josh Allen was the only quarterback in attendance with Mitch Trubisky out for a personal matter and Shane Buechele sitting out with a neck injury, the QB-WR duo continued to link up and put ridiculous catches on tape.
Keon Coleman makes absurd leaping catch
Here it is, today's highlight.
I'm not entirely sure, so don't hold me to this, but I'm pretty sure Coleman leaped roughly 25 feet into the air on that catch.
Coleman has made a habit out of demonstrating his leaping ability and his athleticism, traits that will translate well to NFL competition for a 6'3" 215 lb wide receiver.
As Allen stated earlier in the offseason, he felt like it's a work in progress for learning how to throw the ball high enough for his new wide receivers. Based on this clip and others throughout training camp, I'd say it's safe to assume that he's figuring it out.
The trust and the confidence in Allen to go to Coleman in difficult spots, including potential must-have and contested catch situations, is something to look for as the regular season approaches, but as we saw in the first preseason game, Coleman isn't the only target on this offense.
Khalil Shakir and Curtis Samuel both saw a ton of involvement in the team's first couple drives last Saturday, with offensive coordinator manufacturing a touch to Samuel on a screen, and putting Shakir in numerous situations where he would be open and able to put his run after the catch ability to good use. This does nothing to speak of the tight end room of Dalton Kincaid and Dawson Knox, who will be huge contributors in this offense as w
Allen will have a variety of pass catchers at his disposal this season, and Coleman is one of them. His development will go a long ways to the extent with which this offense can attack opposing defenses on the outside.
