The Tennessee Vols can't get any respect this offseason — not even in the new EA Sports College Football video game.
Like a lot of college football fans, I spent much of the weekend playing the new EA Sports College Football game that was released last week.
And I noticed while playing the game in dynasty mode that Tennessee is getting disrespected in the new game in a way that mirrors real life.
After starting the season 11-0, my virtual Vols are ranked No. 6 in the College Football Playoff rankings in the game. They're the only undefeated team in the top 10, yet they're behind an Alabama team that's 7-3 (as well as four other teams with losses).
Even in a video game, the Vols are still ranked behind Alabama despite having a better record and beating the Crimson Tide head to head (my virtual Vols are coming off a huge road win against Georgia which moved them zero spots in the rankings).
And in case you think this is just a glitch in my version of the game, I wasn't the only one to notice the disrespect for Tennessee.
Several fans replied to my tweet detailing their own experiences with the Vols getting shafted in the rankings.

EA Sports definitely has some adjustments to make with the new game (though otherwise it's great….at least from my non-gamer vantage point).
Either that or they took Hendon Hooker's words from last year to heart and decided that the disrespect that Tennessee receives in real life should be featured in the game.
Somewhere, Nick Saban probably has an 8-4 Alabama team at No. 1 in the playoff rankings in his version of the game.
