NFL broadcast partners have announced that the Kansas City Chiefs will face the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1 and the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2 of the 2024 NFL season. Now, the team's Super Bowl LVIII rematch against the San Francisco 49ers has been leaked.
As first reported by Bleacher Report's Jordan Schultz, the Chiefs will take on the 49ers on Sunday, October 20 on FOX in Week 7 at 3:25 p.m. CT. San Francisco Chronicle beat writer Eric Branch has since confirmed the initial report. According to the 33rd Team's Ari Meirov, Tom Brady will be on the call for the game.
The Chiefs, of course, vanquished the Niners 25-22 in overtime in Super Bowl LVIII at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. This time Kansas City will travel to San Francisco at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, so the environment will be a bit more hostile. Patrick Mahomes' Chiefs teams are a perfect 4-0 against the 49ers since he took over as the starting quarterback in the 2018 NFL season.
However, it's a new season and both teams have seen changes to their roster. The Chiefs added a speedster in Texas WR Xavier Worthy and traded with the 49ers in Round 2 of the 2024 NFL draft to add BYU OT Kinglsey Suamataia. Meanwhile, San Francisco added Florida WR Ricky Pearsall and Florida State CB Renardo Green in Round 1 and Round 2, respectively. By the Week 7 mark, each team should theoretically be hitting their stride with rookies catching some steam (or hitting the dreaded rookie wall).
Ultimately, it should prove to be an exciting rematch between two of the premiere teams in the NFL, one from the AFC and the other from the NFC conference.
