The Tennessee Vols are one of the programs in the mix to land 2025 five-star edge rusher Damien Shanklin.
Shanklin, 6-foot-4/230 lbs from Indianapolis, IN, is set to take an official visit to Tennessee on June 14. He also has official visits planned to LSU, Ohio State, and Alabama.
The Indiana native is rated by 247Sports as the No. 6 edge rusher in the nation and the No. 1 player in the state of Indiana. He's also rated as the No. 47 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class.
Shanklin told Rivals.com that he plans to commit on September 21 or "the week before".
Earlier this week, 247Sports' Tom Loy suggested that Tennessee, LSU, and Alabama are the three schools at the top of the list for Shanklin.
"While Ohio State is still a major threat to land him, these three other programs are absolutely in play and could eventually secure his commitment," noted Loy. "LSU has optimism. Alabama believes they are making a run at him. Tennessee has always felt confident."
Tennessee currently has nine players committed to its 2025 recruiting class, including four-star defensive lineman Ethan Utley, the only defensive lineman the Vols currently have committed.
