When the Baltimore Ravens step out on the field in 2024, their offense is going to look a bit different with new faces on the offensive line and at running back starting.

At wide receiver specifically, the Ravens simply need guys to step up and take a step forward.

Zay Flowers showed great promise in his rookie season and will look to build off of that. Flowers is placing some pressure on a fellow teammate at the position as well.

“[Rashod] Bateman goes to work every day. Ever since I’ve been here, I’ve seen him putting nothing but work in, and even this year, [he’s] coming back early and trying to get in rhythm with the quarterbacks,” Flowers recently explained to the media. “I feel like Bateman is going to have a great year this year.”

While last year was disappointing for Bateman, the Ravens did sign him to an extension back in April. Signing him through the 2026 season shows that Baltimore does believe in his ability to be a football player who can contribute positively for them over the next couple of seasons.

In 16 games with 12 starts last season, Bateman tallied just 367 yards and a touchdown. The previous season, Bateman played in just six games due to injury and had 285 yards and a pair of touchdowns. AS A rookie, Bateman showed his most promise with just north of 500 yards. That season, the former first-round pick was targeted 68 times, the most he had been through three seasons.

Flowers is the top wideout on the team and Mark Andrews will continue to be the top weapon for Lamar Jackson in the passing game, but the Ravens need guys to step up past those two. Nelson Agholor and Tylan Wallace will figure into the rotation and get their targets, but the Ravens did not invest a first-round pick in either of them.

With Flowers going to bat for Bateman and saying he’s a hard worker, he also slipped up and put some pressure on his teammate by saying he’s going to have a great season. If Bateman can step up and do that, it is not only good for his career path going forward, but for the Ravens offense as a whole.
