The Carolina Panthers offense is improved by the arrival of one player who has the potential to be elite.
Improving the offense was the first objective of the offseason for the Carolina Panthers.
After months of work, it has appeared to work, according to Bleacher Report.
The outlet recently named the Panthers one of the most improved offenses of the offseason, pointing out by name the addition of rookie wide receiver Xavier Legette with the team's first-round selection it traded for on draft night.
"At receiver, the Panthers traded for Diontae Johnson and used their opening draft pick on Xavier Legette," David Kenyon writes.
It is easy to dismiss the addition of Legette. He was inconsistent for large portions of his college career. However, he may be one of the rare players that finds more success in the NFL game.
He already boasts the physical attributes to do so. With a player like Diontae Johnson lining up on the other side of him, he will have his moments to eat up one-on-one coverage.
Legette will also be a player willing to go up and make contested catches, a luxury for a quarterback in the NFL.
Carolina's offensive improvements don't stop there. The Panthers also invested in the offense line, inking deals with Robert Hunt and Damien Lewis.
What it appears Carolina is building is a team predicated on the long game. Success won't come instantly for the group. It will take time to for the players to mesh with new head coach Dave Canales. But it wouldn't be a surprise if the Panthers do shock some teams coming into the season.
