Alabama was college football's dynasty team at one time, but those days are gone in a new era. Georgia may have missed the College Football Playoff for the 2023 season, but it was by a quite small margin after the Bulldogs won back-to-back national titles.

2024 is a new year, though, and the Bulldogs have several pieces to be excited about as they look to make it back to the same stage with a victory in the big game.

Here's a look at three reasons to be optimistic that they can do just that.

1. Carson Beck is the best quarterback in the nation.

The quarterback position is perhaps the most important in football to a team's success, second maybe only to the offensive line that is set to protect him. The Bulldogs could not ask for a better option taking the snaps than Carson Beck, who should be considered the best signal-caller in the nation and a likely first-round 2025 NFL Draft selection.

Beck finished out the 2023 season with a 72.4% completion rate, passing for 3,941 yards with 24 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. His time behind the likes of Stetson Bennett and JT Daniels with plenty of time holding the clipboard and learning is well-reflected in his game as he projects as a quarterback with an incredibly high floor and a ceiling NFL scouts will be excited about.

Beck enters the season as the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy after he led the SEC in passing yards and ranked third in the conference in passing touchdowns.

2. Kirby Smart's successful coaching history.

There's no better coach on the sidelines than Kirby Smart, as is well backed up by his 94-16 record through 110 games in his current position and the fact Georgia has won two national titles with an overall record of 42-2 over the past three seasons.

There are only three other active head coaches with national title under their belt in college footbal (Dabo Swinney, Clemson and Mack Brown, North Carolina).

Smart, who has produced 55 NFL Draft selections with 15 of those coming off the board in the first round, is also unbeaten against all active head coaches over the past five seasons

The program Smart has built has had a sense of consistency no other team in college football has had over recent years with the shakiness of Alabama as the dynasty fell shortly ahead of head coach Nick Saban's retirement.

3. Firepower offense expected to continue through 2024.

Georgia had the No. 5 total offense in the nation last season, averaging some 496.5 yards on that side of the ball per game in 2023. That was good for second-best in the SEC, behind only the LSU Tigers, who ranked first in the NCAA in that category with an average of 543.5 yards of total offense per contest.

Georgia was No. 11 in the NCAA in passing offense with an average of 305.3 yards through the air per contest, with the third-best rushing offense in the SEC, as the Bulldogs averaged 191.2 yards on the ground per game.

Beck will be the headliner of the 2024 effort to keeping things rolling on this side of the ball, but former Missouri wideout Dominic Lovett, center Jared Wilson and right guard Tate Ratledge are just some names who have impressed and earned praise throughout spring practice.

Georgia returns an overall highly experienced offensive line with guards Micah Morris and Dylan Fairchild, left tackle Earnest Greene III and right tackle Xavier Truss all in the fold with 80 starts between them and the potential to be the conference's best.
