The Chicago Bears are beginning to get all of their Top-30 visits lined up with less than a month remaining until the 2024 NFL Draft and will in fact be bringing in a top prospect who has been linked to the Bears numerous times.
According to Ben Devine, the Bears will be hosting Washington wide receiver Rome Odunze on one of their Top-30 visits in the coming days.
Odunze is viewed as one of the top wide receivers in the upcoming draft class and has consistently been ranked in the Top-3 of his position throughout the majority of the draft process, along with Marvin Harrison Jr. and Malik Nabers.
After viewing many of the top Pro Days around the country over the last few days, the Bears did not have a major presence at the Washington Pro Day on Thursday. Perhaps the reason why is because Odunze did not work out with the rest of his former teammates, including quarterback Michael Penix Jr., who drew quite a crowd during the week from other teams in the league.
Odunze has already met with the Bears before, prior to an impressive showing earlier this month during the NFL Scouting Combine, and now it seems the Bears are interested in bringing him in for a more personalized visit.
Here's what our very own Travis May had to say about Odunze following his eye-opening performance in Indianapolis on his Top-10 wide receiver rankings:
"Rome Odunze had a season nearly as impressive as Harrison and Nabers last fall. But this week he put the cherry on top by posting a 94th percentile A to Z Sports Athletic Composite Score. His size-adjusted speed, burst, and agility numbers were phenomenal at the NFL Combine." – AtoZ Sports' Travis May
Odunze led the FBS with 1,630 yards for the Huskies while helping lead the offense to a National Championship berth against Michigan. As one of the top route runners in the class, Odunze is widely expected to go in the Top-10 selections of the draft and perhaps the Bears are hoping he's on the board with their ninth overall pick.
Earlier this week, Bears' general manager Ryan Poles revealed that the front office has a plan in place for how they will navigate choosing the best player to take ninth overall and listed wide receiver as one of the positions the team is considering to target.
Of the Top-3 wide receivers in the class, it seems like Odunze will have the best opportunity to make it to the Bears' second pick once they are back on the clock.
The Bears have already added one top wide receiver to the offense this offseason in six-time Pro Bowler Keenan Allen to pair with DJ Moore and adding Odunze to the room with the ninth overall pick would just be icing on the cake.
Bears will have a diverse evaluation process to determine what to do with the #9 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft
There will be plenty of options to consider.
