Pearce was an obvious choice for Steele. The Charlotte native had a breakout season in 2023, totaling 10 sacks, 27 tackles, and an interception returned for a touchdown. Pearce is already receiving hype as the potential No. 1 overall selection in the 2025 NFL Draft.
As for Mays, he's more than deserving of a spot on one of Steele's all-offense teams. Mays is easily one of Tennessee's most important players. Not only does he do a great job of executing on the field, but he's also extremely important when it comes to communicating what he's seeing up front.
Mays' deep knowledge of Josh Heupel's offensive system (2024 will be Mays' fourth season in Heupel's offense) will once again be a huge on-field asset for the Volunteers in 2024.
