Breeland Speaks was a pivotal piece to the Ole Miss pass rush during his three-year collegiate career spanning from 2015-2017. Speaks, a second-round draft pick by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2018, is now looking towards a return to the NFL after being named the UFL's Defensive Player of the Year.

Speaks is coming off of a 2024 campaign in which he posted 53 tackles and a league-leading nine sacks. The UFL season came to a close last weekend, but Speaks is already receiving interest from two NFL teams.

A to Z Sports' Mike Payton reports that the Tennessee Titans and Carolina Panthers have each made contact with Speaks as teams are looking to make final roster tweaks ahead of training camp.

The Titans and Panthers are both short on depth at edge rushers which would allow Speaks an opportunity to make an active roster with a strong showing in camp.

Speaks initially struggled to catch on at the NFL level. He played in 16 games for the Chiefs in his rookie campaign logging four starts along the way. Speaks stuffed the stat sheet with 24 tackles, three tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble in 2018.

Unfortunately, Speaks hasn't played in an NFL game since. The Ole Miss product was placed on injured reserve ahead of the 2019 season, then received a four-game suspension in December of the same year for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy.

Speaks bounced around the league making stops with the Raiders, Giants, Bills, 49ers and two practice squad stints with the Cowboys. Despite not having yet found a landing spot in the NFL, Speaks is just 28 years old and has plenty of gas left in his tank.
